When a child comes to this world, his first act of crying is to express the sign of life. It is not strange that his cry is a source of satisfaction for the doctor and relatives and even the mother. But as the child grows up, his crying becomes disturbing. Normally young girls and ladies start crying after seeing and incident or an emotional scene. They shed tears once somebody narrates a happening or when they read a sad story. However, if some calamity takes place or there is some saddening thing, their eyes fills with tears. At times even a good news causes tears in eyes. An interesting question is that whether crying is also good for health?

Psychologists say that there is no harm in crying. It is good for health. However, some of our social behaviours and pressure conditions when become part of our nature, then we term that crying is a symbol of cowardice. Or when all the possibilities of change diminish, then we cry. If you do not cry, it is not necessary that you start chopping onion and shed tears. Specialist say that only that tear is good for health which comes out naturally.

Lets find out the medical reality of tears. According to experts, in tears there is a bacteria or some matter which prevents our nervous system from great turmoil. When a person suffers from great shock, two hormones are excessively produced in his body which are known as stress hormones. These hormones prepares us to cry and during difficult times, a person cries to save his nervous system from severe danger. Actually tears save our bodies from harmful elements. Other advantages of tears include normalizing of blood pressure and relief from stress. If skin is effected with minor scratches, the fluid of tears freshens the face. God forbid if a person is unable to cry over somebody’s demise, then he suffers from nervous disorders. Expert psychologists say that such a person suffers from extreme nervous and psychological problems. It is a fact that tears clear harmful elements from the body and an important thing is that they take away depressing elements from the body system. These depression agents can especially be dangerous for delicate organs of young children and girls. That is the reason that as compared to elders, children naturally cry more and this keeps their immunity system active and prevents from internal damages.

Research tells that children who finds it difficult to cry, they mostly cannot sustain emotional pressure. Crying acts as an exercise for lungs and safety of air sacks enhances. Furthermore, no disturbance takes place in the nervous system. As per scientists, both boys and girls cry till the age of 12. But after this age only girls mostly cry. The reason for the same is a hormone found in girls called protection, which relieves their mental pressure through this manner. In men there is a specific hormore known as testosterone, which prevents from accumulating of tears fluid. So they have lesser quantity of tears. We have made some social presumptions that men do not look good while crying. Now science and medicine both agree that the hormone which prevents men from crying remains more active due to body’s immunity system.

There are two types of tears. The first type is the one which lubricates the eyes. The second type relates to human emotions and are produced due to social pressure and reaction. The first type is necessary for health of eyesight as without the same the outer membrane of eye can easily be damaged. As one grows old, the capability to produce tears lessens. This is the reason that in old age, eyes are not so shiny and bright. Tears are not just water. They contain both carbohydrates and proteins. They have a thick slippery surface around them which facilitates tears to flow. Under normal circumstances, producing about half mille liter od tears is sufficient.

The matter of gland for tears reduces worry and feeling of anxiety. It is for the same reason that when we face more stress, depression, anger or worry, we start sympathizing ourselves and our tears start flowing. We later feel quite relaxed. However, with this article we are not trying to convince you to cry unnecessarily or find a way to do that. Crying for every small matter is not accepted socially and which may result in complex nervous ailments.

In our Eastern societies, women are more emotional and they fight depression by crying as well. Whereas, our male children are trained since childhood that they have to have qualities like a hard rock. Crying is embarrassing for them. As a result they consciously develop a quality to bear and keep away from negative emotions. Do you know that suppressing any kind of negative emotion causes ulcers of stomach and intestines, heart diseases, migraine and some nervous problems and moral lowliness? One of the reasons for trend of suicide amongst men is lack of complete emotional expression. For the sake of body’s health if one lightens his heart by crying, it does not gives an evidence of being an unsocial personality. Defying the unsocial behaviours and crying a little to lighten up is appropriate.
